Philodendron verrucosum

Philodendron verrucosum is one of our customers all-time favorites because of it’s colorful, velvety leaves with neon green veins. The petioles are also extremely interesting because they are very fuzzy and make great contrast against the red underside of the leaves. This spectacular species is native to Costa Rica where it grows as an hemiepiphyte that starts its life growing in the forest floor and eventually climbing trees to reach higher lighting levels. This is the reason we grow climbing Aroids in poles to emulate these conditions. This species is very iconic because the new leaves are unique and instantly recognizable.  Up for sale are small plants in 4” pots that are growing in Sphagnum moss and will be shipped potted to avoid transportation stress.

Philodendron Care Guide

Sunlight: Philodendron are rainforest understory plants, they thrive in shady locations like the inside of a home or under bright filtered light.

Substrate: Philodendron prefer to be grown in rich and well drained soil with generous amounts of fertilizer. Perlite and orchid bark are encouraged to be added to increase drainage. Climbing types benefit from a climbing pole.

Watering: Philodendron enjoy frequent watering but need the soil to dry between waterings

Humidity: Philodendron can tolerate a wide range of humidity levels but they grow best when relative humidity is above 50%.
